On The NewsHour Debate, with Padmaja Joshi, we discuss, the case update of a 17-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur who died by suicide alleging a bid to convert her to Christianity. As police point fingers at kin, parents say 'no faith in cops'; highlight lacunae in probe & demand a CBI investigation. Madras high court will be hearing the Thanjavur suicide case of a 12th class student, who committed suicide and alleged that she was being forced to change to Christianity by her hostel warden. A video of that girl got viral on social media, where she was seen saying that her warden tortured her and even forced her to change her religion. The victim's family also claimed that their daughter was forced to do different tasks in the hostel as well. However, the educational institution has claimed the allegations are being made to malign their reputation as not a single case came into notice before this.
