As per breaking inputs coming in on Times Now, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman takes on telecom sector in Budget 2022 session. Telecom industry in general and 5G communication are on focus this year, as it can enable growth and offer job opportunities. She announces that required spectrum auction are set to be conducted in 2022 to facilitate rollout of 5G mobile services within 2022-23 by private telecom providers. A scheme for design led manufacturing will be launched to build a strong ecosystem for 5G as part of the production linked in Centre's scheme. She adds that to enable affordable broadband and mobile services for rural and remote areas, 5 per cent of the annual collections under the universal service obligation fund will be allocated in order to promote R&D and equal access to technological solutions to rural and remote India.
