Nepal has a lengthy and sadly documented history of plane crashes. Over the last 30 years, there have been 27 deadly aviation crashes in Nepal, according to the Aviation Safety database. More than 20 of these have occurred in the recent decade. These crashes have been exacerbated by the harsh mountainous terrain, a lack of investment in new planes and infrastructure, and weak regulation.
