Acting US Attorney Alina Habba announced charges against Congresswoman LaMonica McIver for allegedly assaulting and interfering with law enforcement at Newark’s ICE facility. She also confirmed that a misdemeanor charge against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka will be dismissed. McIver has called the charges political and defended her actions as lawful congressional oversight.
