Starting September 2, 2025, U.S. visa interview waiver rules will tighten. B1/B2 applicants with visas that have expired more than 12 months ago will no longer qualify. The 48-month grace period ends. Exceptions apply to minors, seniors, diplomats, and specific categories. Consular officers may still request interviews on a case-by-case basis.
