Eric Dane, best known for Grey’s Anatomy, died at 53 after battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive motor neuron disease. Also called Lou Gehrig’s disease, ALS causes muscle weakness, paralysis, and breathing difficulties. While there is no cure, treatments may slow progression and improve quality of life.
