The Panchang is a calendar based on the conventional units of the traditional Hindu timekeeping system that registers all the significant moments (muhurat and kaal) of the day, including the Nakshatra that remains in effect other than the Sunrise, Moonrise timings and several details. In addition, the Panchang mentions the Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana and Vaar.Interestingly, Hindus follow the Lunar and the Solar calendars for various purposes. The Lunar calendar is of two types: the Purnimant and the Amavasyant. The former is based on the Lunar cycle that ends with the Full Moon day while the latter is influenced by the Lunar phase that ends with the New Moon day. Other than these, people also follow the Solar calendar to determine the movement of the Sun and other significant occasions.
